The reason why there is NOTHING that beats EPSON OEM inks for the R2000 / R1900

An individual obtained a used EPSON R1900 and R2000 which came pre loaded with Compatible Carts From a company called LD!
His prints were not what he expected having read the claims from EPSOn about these family of printers using Gloss Optimizer and Red and Orange inks in addition to the normal colors.
My prints do not have "Crispness" what ever that means. My prints are not very glossy! They are dull!

Well the truth is that NOT ONE 3rd party ink comapny has been able to complete copy the excellent results that OEM inks provide.
At least not for the R1900 and R2000s. Nothing comes close.
So if anyone is considering any of these two printer models, be well aware of this. You will have to use OEM inks if you want the most out of these printers!
A while back you could get full OEM sets of ink for the R2000 for as low as $10! Now they go for an average of $40 which is still only $5 per cart.
In the video you will see the excellent results on can get on even the glossiest of papers!
So unless you simply going to print on Matte papers which would not make much sense if you are using one of these printers the you are basically stuck having to use OEM inks for the best gloss performance.

ladduro : It would have been interesting to print same image on non oem inks to have a comparison. Anyway, good video.
Jackie Dines : Jose, I finally found a second hand R1900, It all looked good and came with a box of new carts, when I turned it on it went through a process of telling me that this cart or that cart needed replacing, more or less one by one. Most went in and worked ok but two are still not recognized. Matt black of which I have two will not work, both have plenty of ink, I also have two reds, both will not work. Can you suggest anything else I can do to try to get these to work. I have cleaned the contacts on the carts and in the printer. I have switched them around to try to force the printer to see them. Before I spend any more money I would at least like to see it prints. Also what do you think about buying refillable carts and using dye inks?
David E : what printers are you pulling the oem inks?
Patrick Knight : Jose,

I hope you are monitoring these older posts. I have just discovered your channel, and have a question about R2000 inks. Would you recommend using the solution you suggested for the R1900 (using OEM Gloss Optimizer with refillable carts for the other colors) with an R2000? I have found R2000 carts with the reset switches on eBay, and would like to be able to top off all the carts at once to avoid wasting ink. If this would not provide good results, that is fine, but I was hoping to get your opinion before buying anything. Thanks.
Christine Rosales : Wonderful channel, Jose! Thank you for the information.

I just recently looked into refillable/cis for my epson 1900. You mentioned that you can use the original OEM gloss optimizer to supplement 3rd party ink.

I was wondering if I can use the 3rd party ink when printing for home or school use and just switch out to Epson OEM when needed? Will this give me problems?

Also, do you have any reviews on the inkowl system? Was thinking of getting this instead of the CIS since I still have stock of some OEM cartridges. If I switch to the CIS, then I won't be able to use my existing stock. Or can I?

Hope you can help me out. Thank you.

How to perform Basic Maintenance on the Epson R2000 and 3800

If you have an Epson R2000 and are experiencing ink smuges on your prints, you might want to watch this. It will apply to other RXXXX printers and partially to the PRO 3800 / 3880.
You will have to pardon my head getting in the way dusing some parts of the video.
This a very long video of over 30 minutes in length and its intended for the total newbe who wants to know what he or she can do besides simply adding a new ink cart whenever needed.

This is not for you experts out there. So don't watch it if you already know how to properly maintain a printer.

Thanks

Robin Gyssels : Hello Rodriguez, merry Christmas to you and your family ! I was wondering what kind of maintenance is required for the canon pixma pro 100s ?
Daniel Moeller : Something to add when dealing with rubber parts that are either expensive or just hard to get/replace: after cleaning with anything containing alcohol, since alcohol will eventually dry out rubber and shorten its life, wipe it with a Q-tip or paper towel that's been soaked with silicon spray. The silicon will be absorbed by the rubber and will help preserve it and extend its life. WD-40 can do this too, but could possibly leave some residue that'll affect the quality of your prints. It does work very well on vehicle wiper blades though, so might be worth a try for an experiment, as long as any excess is removed.
Marek Jan : Hi Jose, thank you for great video. Can i use isoprofile alcohol to clean capin station? Can you recommend the EU alternative to Windex? Thank you for answer
Johnny Fernandez : Hello, I have a samsung 28" 4k monitor and an Epson R2000 printer. When I draw a label in coreldraw x7, the colors of the label do not match the output color of the label from the monitor. I have calibrated the monitor with a spyder 4 calibrator, but it still does not output the correct color. Is my problem a monitor issue, a printer issue or a software issue?
Happy Trails : Thanks so much! I am about to try this on my Epson 2400. I know its ancient but its in good shape and I dont really want to retire it just yet. It only gets used for personal use and I print borderless a lot. I've been getting clogging issues so hoping this helps.
